Welcome to Ledger

Congratulations on taking the first step toward securing your digital assets. Ledger hardware wallets are designed to give you full control and ownership of your crypto, keeping your private keys safe from online threats. This page will guide you through setting up your Ledger device and getting started with confidence.

Why Choose Ledger?

When you buy crypto, what you’re really protecting are your private keys. Unlike software wallets or exchanges, Ledger stores your private keys inside a Secure Element chip, the same type of technology used in passports and payment cards. Your keys never leave the device, even when connected to your computer or phone.

With Ledger, you remain in control. No third party can access, freeze, or move your assets without your approval.

What You’ll Need to Get Started

Before beginning, make sure you have:

  • Your Ledger hardware wallet

  • A computer or smartphone

  • A USB cable or Bluetooth connection (depending on your device)

  • A safe, private environment for setup

Step 1: Install Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official app that lets you manage your crypto securely. It allows you to:

  • Set up your Ledger device

  • Install apps for different cryptocurrencies

  • Check balances and transaction history

  • Buy, sell, send, and receive crypto safely

Download Ledger Live only from the official Ledger website or app stores to avoid counterfeit software.

Step 2: Set Up Your Ledger Device

When you turn on your Ledger for the first time, you’ll be guided through creating a PIN code. This PIN protects your device if it’s ever lost or stolen.

Next, your device will generate a 24-word recovery phrase. This phrase is the most important part of your wallet. It is the only way to restore access to your funds if your device is lost, damaged, or reset.

Write the recovery phrase down on paper and store it securely.

  • Never take a photo of it

  • Never store it online

  • Never share it with anyone

Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase.

Step 3: Add Crypto Accounts

Once your device is set up, you can add accounts for supported cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many others. Each account is secured by your Ledger device and confirmed directly on its screen.

All transactions must be physically approved by you, providing an extra layer of security.

Stay Safe

To protect yourself:

  • Only trust messages from official Ledger channels

  • Ignore emails or websites asking for your recovery phrase

  • Always verify transaction details on your Ledger device screen

You’re in Control

Ledger gives you the tools to manage your digital assets securely and independently. By following the setup steps carefully and keeping your recovery phrase safe, you can use crypto with peace of mind.

Welcome to secure self-custody.
